Materials Needed:

  • 2.9 meters of tulle with dots

  • 1 meter of dark blue velvet ribbon (2.2 cm wide)

  • 1 snap button or hook and eye closure

Instructions:

  1. Divide the tulle into three equal pieces. The skirt length is 90 cm.

  2. Finish the bottom edge with a small zigzag stitch.

  3. Iron pleats of 1.5 cm width into the tulle. The dotted fabric makes this easier.

  4. If you have a household mangle, press the pleats for about 30 minutes to help them hold longer. Alternatively, you can send the fabric for professional pleating.

  5. Sew the skirt panels together to create a 4.2 m x 0.9 m piece.

  6. Leave the front edges open or sew them together, leaving a 20 cm slit if preferred.

  7. Cut a fabric strip for the waistband (waist measurement + 7 cm x 4.4 cm).

  8. Sew the velvet ribbon along the upper edge of the strip to create a waistband detail.

  9. Gather the tulle to match the waist size, fix it with tape, and sew the fabric strip inside. Press the waistband, fold the velvet ribbon outward, and stitch it invisibly by hand.

  10. Sew on a snap button and attach a small velvet bow for decoration.
